Project and construction management_
Gádor de Carvajal, Juan Casariego y Patricia Reznak
This project replaces the last block of a series of five that was demolished several years ago. The blocks are arranged perpendicular to the old road of Andalusia, in an area known for its low quality of construction but high value of urban land. The gridded layout of independent building blocks with various green areas and amenities has an interesting typology, of which Madrid has very few examples.
The most significant aspects of the new building are the clarity and clear cut lines of the design, in which you can appreciate the design of the leaf motif in the window balustrades and railings, the silhouette of the cantilevered metal staircase that projects from the façade, and the provision of the pioneering bioclimatic technologies. These fortunately are being used more frequently. The special attention to detail of the balustrades and screenwork, uniquely expressed by in the inclusion of plant motifs, demonstrates the homelike quality of the interior spaces.
The ability of the new block to integrate within the existing blocks and at the same time clearly present itself as a contemporary building, serves as a starting point for the regeneration of the area.
